Frederick Valentich was an Australian pilot who disappeared out of the sky back in 1978 at the age of 22 while flying from Melbourne’s Moorabbin Airport to King Island, off the coast of Victoria.

Before his disappearance, Valentich reported “a strange aircraft” during the run. He reported an orbiting object that hovered over him for a brief period during the run at a speed that he couldn’t measure. Then a strange sound interupted the broadcast and that was the last anyone had heard from him.

Normally, press releases don’t catch my interest. They go right in the trash along with all the other porn spam and debt consolidation emails I get. But this one certainly caught my attention.

Author and former French military air traffic controller Eric Julien claims in a journal article published in the Exo Politics Journal that nuclear weapons testing are linked with UFO sightings.

Julien served in the Air Force for five years and he claims that data he gathered shows such a clear connection. According to the press release, he says that of the 2,419 nuclear tests performed on the planet from 1945-1998, there were 140 cases involving radar and visual UFO sightings. He conjectures in the article that nuclear testing poses a security threat to UFOs and their presences during these tests are reconnaisance missions of some kind.
