The company has a photo of the wreckage on the newspaper’s website and also claims it found part of whatever the jet was chasing. Was it part of a UFO or just a tragic accident with a bizarre set of circumstances?

Remember that British report from the Ministry of Defence awhile back that said there was not a single piece of evidence that could support the existence of UFOs? Most UFO believers aren’t buying it, according to a story at Scotsman.com. (This just in, scientists announced that grass is green, cows don’t give chocolate milk and all of Clay Aiken’s music sucks.)

David Clarke, a journalist who filed freedom of information requests that sparked the original MoD report, seems to be leading the wave of believers, saying, “They’ve got the truth, but it’s not what they want to hear.”

But Nick Pope, a MoD officials insists there’s no cover-up to uncover. “In Britain, I’m convinced there’s no cover-up, there’s no conspiracy…”But I can’t win with arguments like that, because whatever I say, they won’t believe it.”

Millions of people spend long nights looking up at the sky and trying desparately to find signs of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe short of building their own rocketship out of an old refridgerator and flying it to Mars on nothing but kerosene and hope. But after spending all that time wondering, looking and hoping, Space.com asks, is it all worth it?

Senior Space Writer Leonard David speaks to some UFO experts and organizations who say that new technology will help them prove their existence and show their importance to mankind. But he also talked to several aviation and scientific experts who state that scientifically it’s all based on tradition and not fact and the hope that one day, the world will reveal that UFOs do exist but that will never happen.

Here’s some of the more interesting quotes from the articles:
- “Physics is leading to new and potentially paradigm shifting understandings about the nature of our universe and its physical properties. These understandings may point the way towards an acceptance of the probability of interstellar travel and communication by spacefaring races.” – Ted Roe, Executive Director of the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena (NARCAP).

- “UFO believers are convinced that the existence of UFOs will be revealed ‘any day now’. But it’s like Charlie Brown and the football: No matter how many times Lucy pulls the football away—or the promised ‘disclosure’ fails to happen—they’re dead-certain that the next time will be their moment of glory.” – Robert Sheaffer, fellow of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal, UFO writer

- “I can’t think of a single, major science museum that has alien artifacts on display. Contrast this paucity of physical evidence with what the American Indians could have shown you fifty years after Christopher Columbus first violated their sea-space. They could have shown you all sorts of stuff—including lots of smallpox-infested brethren—as proof that they were being ‘visited.” – Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer at the SETI Institute

A glacier in the High Arctic could hold an important clue to whether or not life exists on other planets.

According to CBC News, Geologist Benoit Beauchamp stumbled across a glacier during an oil hunting expedition that contained bacteria that adapted to a harsh cold environment.

So what does this have to do with ET? Well, if this bacteria can live in such cold, sub-zero temperatures, that means life could exist on planets like Jupiter’s moon, Europa, where the temperatures are just as cold.

The expedition is being funded by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency, which starts June 21.

Kenneth Nealson, professor of earth science at USC, said the discovery of nitrogen would be a more telling sign of life because it is not a major element of rocks and minerals and would prove the existence of another form of life that had once existed there.

“If your goal is to search for life, it would be wise to include nitrogen, Nealson said.

Could UFOs be spacecraft from far off planets sent to explore the Earth or take it over for their control or could it just natural forces playing tricks on our minds?

Great Britain’s Ministry of Defense confirmed this week that a report completed almost five years ago called “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence Region” that claims there is no conclusive proof to show that UFO sightings are nothing more than natural phenomenon being mistaken for UFOs.

“No evidence exists to suggest that the phenomena seen are hostile or under any type of control, other than that of natural physical forces,” according to the report in a story published by the Reuters news service. “Evidence suggests that meteors and their well-known effects, and possibly some other less-known effects, are responsible for some unidentified aerial phenomena.”

Could this burst the bubble of conspiracy lovers everywhere? Well, hold on to your butts because we’re not out of Kansas yet, Dorothy. The full 400 page report won’t go public until May 15 when the Ministry of Defense posts it on their web site. Stay tuned to this blog for a Cliffs Notes version of it.

Some people believe that Bigfoot, that big hairy 7-foot plug beast who leaves huge footprints in the dust for hunters to find, could be the missing link to mankind. But to UFOs?

That’s what Bigfoot expert and Michigan Mutual UFO Network Field Investigator Lisa Shiel believes and theorizes in her new lectures and her new book, “Backyard Bigfoot.” (NOTE: Those of you in Burton, Michigan on May 7 can hear those theories at the Walli’s East Restaurant, according to the press release.)

According to her publisher’s website at www.slipdownmountain.com, she claims Bigfoot as some kind of connection to UFOs, but it doesn’t go into much detail as to exactly what that could be, but she claims in her sample chapter that “UFOs, hairy dwarves, glowing-eyed monsters, mysterious footprints-these phenomena and others play a role in the hairy hominid mystery.” Sounds interesting.
